Stand Against The Wind (Young Adults)- Character is like a hero asleep within you, just waiting to be awakened through your God given creativity. The total integration of your heart, mind and soul with the resilience afforded you through the practice of humility, gratitude, and faithfulness. In this study we will learn that the renewing of the mind that we read about in the book of Romans, leads to character transformation by standing against the winds of this world to become all God designed us to be. Crushed, overwhelmed, devastated…………sound like parts of a conversation that you might hear or have today? Maybe to a certain degree you can even relate? Well, this describes the initial state of mind for most of Jesus’ disciples immediately following His crucifixion. Peter understood suffering first hand, having been jailed, threatened, and beaten often, yet his letters to Christ followers offer comfort and hope. Peter was the one disciple most inclined to shoot from the hip and act before thinking. Jesus constantly corrected Peter and later would call Peter “the rock” that He would build the church on. Matthew 16:18 “…and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.” Bring your Bible and notebook and learn with us how to be a “rock”, from Peter the rock, when the tough times come. New Testament Exposition Our New Testament Exposition series is designed to give you an in depth look at the whole New Testament in a relaxed and informal setting. This “2nd half” of the bible will be broken down into easily digestible pieces that will ignite your passion to read Scripture. You will come away with a working knowledge of each book and how the whole work fits together. Never be intimidated again when searching thru God’s word. This semester, we start with the Gospels. The full story, an in-depth look at the story of Jesus’ life. Four writers for four audiences all share the same good news. Take a look at the political, historical, and cultural setting, see the similarities and differences. Find out why Jesus had issues with the Pharisees and relate them to people today. Learn about the parables, the simplicity of Jesus' message and the hidden treasures that are there if you know where to find them. Take the extra time to discover a simple way to remember where to look when you want to find a particular story. We will have a great time together as we dig deeper into the Word and catch the flavor of the time.
